Why visit Munich?

Christmas markets! Although in December the city has a festive market around every corner, the best one is located on Marienplatz in the heart of the city.

When should I visit?

Heading to see the markets will magic more fun over the Christmas holidays. However, for less crowds and cheaper hotel prices visit between March and May.

Must-sees?

With its golden exterior, St Peter's Church overlooks Marienplatz: this iconic building must be visited. Climb the tower to get the most perfect cityscape. Also in the main square is the majestic New Town Hall building where you can take a 90 minute guided tour and see all the grand rooms. Your guide will also point out the areas which have been used as locations in films. For further impressive grandness, you must visit Asamkirche church with it laden with gold and silver antiquities. Badenburg Palace, hidden away in Nymphenburg Park, is also a must-do with many treasures to view. Check out the beautiful chinese wallpaper and stunning fresco ceilings.

Local traditions?

In Munich's oldest house is the Beer and Oktoberfest Museum; learn about the history of beer and taste local offerings.
