Why visit Melbourne?

The Lanes! That's 40 off-the-beaten track promenades and arcades which are worthy of exploration. Centre Place is awesome for restaurants; for shops Block Arcade is a must but if you want vintage items the Royal Arcade is where you need to be and grab a cocktail at Meyers Place. The Lanes are also famous for its street art which has added another dimension to Melbourne's multi-diverse image.

When should I visit?

Australia's Autumn, between March and May, and Spring, September to November, are the best times to visit Melbourne as it remains mild but there are less tourists meaning hotel prices are lower.

Must-sees?

Fans of TV soap Neighbours should pay a visit to Melbourne as you can actually visit Ramsay Street. To make it even more special, you will be able to meet a star from the show as the tour ends.

A visit to Flinders Street Station should be on any tour of Melbourne, as amidst the hustle and bustle is a historical icon which dates back to 1910. Nearby is Federation Square, and this is a must-do too, particularly because of its unusual architecture. A visit to Old Melbourne Gaol is laden with tales of fear and fascination as many of the country's infamous criminals were executed here. The prison closed in 1929 and is now a museum teling the stories of life behind bars. A further interesting museum worth visiting is The Immigration Museum, which is located in The Customs House, and celebrates the diverse cultures whicj make-up contemporary Australia.
