Why visit Buffalo Niagara?

The Niagara Falls!!! Buffalo Niagara is the second largest city in Upstate New York, and a transformation of the harbour area has seen a very vibrant tourist industry which is also benefiting from new hotels being built. Take the Maid of the Mist boat tour to get up-close with one of the world's famous natural wonders . Located in Niagara Falls State Park, America's oldest State Park, the Bridal Veil Falls and part of the Horseshoe Falls are located here. When should I visit?

June through to September are nice months to visit Buffalo Niagara. Although, this is peak season the winter months see The Maid Of The Mist shutdown, whereas in the summer months a free shuttle operation which can transfer you between the main attractions.


Apart from the Falls, The Cave Of The Winds is a must. Located behind the Bridal Veil Falls, ride the elevator 75 feet deep into the Niagara Gorge to be 6 meters away from the torrent of water. Pack your waterproofs, and don't forget your camera!

Local traditions?

Every June, Buffalo Niagara hosts their Dragon Boat Race along the Niagara River. Next year the impressive event will take place on 6 June and is one of the city's most popular festivals.

How do I get there?

There are no direct flights from the U.K. to Buffalo Niagara. Your best route is to fly to the nearest international airport which is New York JFK. For the best fares, Norwegian fly from London Gatwick. For convenience, British Airways flies to New York JFK from London City, via Shannon for US immigration clearance to allow you to avoid the queues as you will be a domestic arrival. This service is a Business/Club World service only and as such is expensive. However, joining the British Airways Executive Club and purchasing Avios can give you some excellent deals on this service. Again, this is not all year. British Airways also flies from London Gatwick South and London Heathrow Terminal 5.   Virgin Atlantic, Delta, American and United fly from London Heathrow and Virgin Atlantic United and Delta fly from Edinburgh. Flight time is around 9 hours. Once you have arrived in New York, you can transfer to Buffalo Niagara: the flight time is unfer 1 hour 30 minutes. Delta flies from NewYork JFK up to eight times per day in the summer months and Jet Blue flies up to five times per day.
